Wild Weed Forage Feast

Wild weeds in your garden can be used to create sumptuous rewilding meals!

In my kitchen garden, I manage weeds to ensure they don’t overtake the garden, but I never get rid of them entirely, because I need them. They help me to create diverse nutrient-rich meals. The only weeds I don’t like are those that are prickly and or with roots that are impossible to pull out.

The following weeds, on the other hand, are close friends of mine: Sonchus oleraceus, Portulaca oleracea, Plantago species, Oxalis species, Urtica urens, Malva parviflora, to name a few.

Join Caroline from The Cottage Herbalist and I for a weed foragers afternoon, here at ORTO farm, where Latin will be translated into feasting!

We will start with a tour of ORTO and an introduction to 10 edible weeds.

Illustrations will be available highlighting key identification features followed by a walk through ORTO One to forage wild edibles, then back in the kitchen where we will make:

Wild Weed pesto, Wild Weed-Infused Vinegar, Wild weed soda.

A sit down lunch with wild edible pie, wild weed salad and a special secret cake for afternoon tea. A sip of elderberry syrup too!

On your way home, two small surprise gifts, to take a little wildness away with you!

Until then! We look forward to meeting you, arrivederci! Cari amici!
