Join the incredibly talented Catherine O’Leary, for a felting class at ORTO farm and learn to make a wearable felted body wrap.
Catherine is an amazing artist! Absolutely gobsmackingly amazing! I can’t believe she lives in this beautiful part of the world. And I can’t believe she is available to teach a class at ORTO.
Felting
Felting is a technique that uses natural materials such as wool and silk to create everything from scarves, shoes, hats, dresses and incredible three-dimensional art pieces. Take a look at Catherine’s website to see the level of artistry that can be achieved.
In this class you will make a wearable body wrap which you will take home, using prefelts and a silk base. In order to ensure access to your favourite colours, and to familiarise you with service providers that sell felting materials, you will need to order some of the materials for this class yourself.
What you need to bring and order
You will need to bring the following PREFELTS to the class. By purchasing the prefelts yourself you will be able to choose your favourite colours.
Please order the following prefelts from the following or a similar website SILKSATIONAL
A. Half a metre merino prefelt (50cm, Merino wool prefelt, 19.5 micron, 120 cm wide, 140g/ m2) $10.50
B. 3 squares of 25x30cm prefelt in different colours to match the larger (half a metre) prefelt piece (2×3=$6).
Hence you will need to bring $16.50 worth of materials.
Please be sure to order your materials from the website suggested or a similar site a good three weeks before class to ensure you receive them on time.
What Catherine Will provide you
Catherine will supply each student with silk fabric to be used as the base material for the body wraps, this silk piece is included in the ticket price for this class.
We will take a small break to enjoy a light vegetarian lunch supplied by ORTO Farm and hot drinks throughout the day.
